Building Robotic Hands: Opening New Possibilities

Date
Robotics has become a core technology that transforms human life.
Among its many innovations, the development of robotic hands stands out — replicating the delicate movements of human hands to restore independence for people with disabilities, boost industrial efficiency, and expand the frontiers of research.
However, achieving true innovation requires overcoming challenges such as precision engineering, lightweight design, and AI integration.
At Refind Inc., we are leading the way in creating human-centered robotic hands that enhance quality of life.
Today, let’s explore the world of robotic hand development through Refind’s technology and vision.

The Core of Robotic Hand Development: Refind’s Technological Edge

Refind has established itself as a leader in humanoid robotic hand development.
Our flagship ROhand series is designed around advanced artificial hands that precisely mimic human movements.
The ROH-AP001 features force sensors embedded in the fingers and palm, enabling accurate force control,
while the ROH-LiteS001, weighing only 457g, maximizes user comfort through its ultra-light design.
These products can be used directly or customized through fast and cost-effective ODM/OEM manufacturing to meet clients’ specific needs.
Meanwhile, our Motion Capture Glove captures hand movements to enhance the precision of robotic hand design.
Refind also integrates AI and electromyography (EMG) technologies to reproduce more natural and intuitive hand motions.
For instance, the OHand uses up to eight EMG sensors to accurately interpret the hand movement intentions of upper-limb amputees,
and the lightweight OHandLite, at just 363.5g, allows simple control using only two EMG sensors.
This technology goes beyond mechanical engineering — it focuses on improving real human lives.

Diverse Applications: From Assistive Devices to Research

Refind’s robotic hand technologies shine across multiple domains.
As assistive devices, the ORE-3000 (a wearable upper-limb rehabilitation robot)
and the OYFM-7000 (a finger rehabilitation device) support arm and finger recovery through Passive, Assistive, and Active modes.
The Dynamic Arm Support provides personalized assistance by allowing users to adjust three-dimensional movement and assistive force.
Refind also plays a key role in research and development.
The MPULSE device measures motion using two EMG channels and one IMU,
while OHand-Direct offers a dedicated API for researchers, enabling individual finger control and custom algorithm development for motion intent detection.
Our HD EMG (BioFlex nano 32) employs high-speed wireless technology, expandable up to 128 channels,
and, combined with a Flexible/Stretchable Electrode Array, supports diverse biosignal measurements such as EMG and ECG.
These research tools strengthen the scientific foundation of robotic hand development and accelerate innovation.
